Construction of the Complexe Médical Cité Mirabel.
MIRABEL, QC, May 11, 2017/CNW Telbec/ – Officials, the media and local business people are gathered today in Mirabel to mark the groundbreaking ceremony formalizing the beginning of construction of a new medical complex equipped with a clinic: the Complexe Médical Cité Mirabel. This medical complex, whose construction will take between 9 and 12 months to complete, will ensure many new services to the residents of the North Shore and the Lower Laurentians. “It is a great privilege to be able to receive a clinic that will ultimately have about twenty experienced general practitioners and specialists at the heart of Cité de Mirabel,” says Ray Junior Courtemanche from Investissement Ray Junior.
“The region has experienced strong population growth in the last few decades and is also among those with the lowest ratio of doctors to unattached patients. We are filling a great void with this new medical complex and clinic,” explains Dr. Jean-François Plante, one of the five participating doctors.
Strong Population Growth
It is worth noting that the Mirabel population is at 50,513 according to the 2016 census. For 30 years, we have noted an accelerated population growth in the area. In fact, the Mirabel RCM has experienced the highest growth rate among the 14 RCMs of the Montreal Metropolitan Community and ranks first in the economic vitality index for cities with over 40,000 inhabitants in Quebec, while 8th of the 82 most populated municipalities of the Greater Montreal. “This population growth is directly connected to economic vitality and we anticipate a 48% growth from 2011 to 2036,” explains Mr. Philippe Rivet from MMC. “Hence our decision to choose the Cité de Mirabel and its strategic location to establish this new clinic,” says Dr. Mathieu Labelle, general practitioner.
The Medical Complex
This modern, strictly medical 35,000 sq. ft construction, built with innovative techniques, will undoubtedly be a jewel in the heart of Cité de Mirabel. “We are very happy to attend the official groundbreaking ceremony for this medical complex that will be open to the public at the beginning of 2018,” says Dr. Mathieu Labelle.
This clinic aims to become a family medicine group (FMG) in the short- or medium term (a group of family physicians working closely with other health professionals and enabling patients to have easier access to healthcare). Among other things, it will offer a pharmacy, a dental clinic and physiotherapy services provided by PhysioExtra. It will also include a medical imagery department, laboratory services, audioprosthesists, optometrists, and many other specialists who will complement this new team.* The team will offer a medical environment that supports the application of the new standards for advanced access, 100% computerized with process operations and optimization through technological tools in service to medical practice. The multidisciplinary team, including auxiliary, practical and clinical nurses, and all other professionals, will help care for their future clients’ health in the region.
The team will consist of five general practitioners—Drs. Jean-François Plante, Thinh Phung, Mathieu Labelle, Marie-Pascale Gravel and Caroline Gingras. All with experience in inpatient care, they decided to combine their practice within the clinic to better serve the population. Working together for more than 15 years, they share the same values and have developed identical working methods and philosophy. “We will proudly address an increasing need, considering that more than 30% of the Quebec population doesn’t have a family doctor,” says Dr. Marie-Pascale Gravel.
